There was some big news on the Canon release front, when an invitation was leaked online to a special Canon release event.  This is big news for all camera junkies who have been waiting patiently (some not) for any news on the release of new cameras by Canon.  It has been close to 3 years since Canon has updated their higher end line of cameras and this invitation is a sign of greener pastures ahead.

A little bit about the invitation and upcoming  event.  It will all take place in Hollywood, CA, on the date of November the 3rd.  The stage has been set and it is set in the location that knows a little bit about premieres, so buckle up.  It will not be an easy 8 weeks waiting for this, but the end is near.  We have finally recieved some news on this front and it brings an end to the age of uncertainty surrounding Canon and their new cameras.

Hopefully we will find out about the name of the camera.  Will the camera be called the Canon 6D or the Canon 5D Mark III?  Only time will tell, but we have a hunch that it will be the Canon EOS 6D.

Stay tuned and of course mark your calendars for November 3rd.  This is the date to pay attention to and be ready for some groundbreaking news from Canon.  The release should follow shortly after, so the waiting game should soon be over and all of the photo-philes can have something to talk about and drool over.

Canon 6D/5D MKIII, Which Will it Be?

The big question, which will soon be answered is what the name of the next camera will be.  Is it the end of the line for the Canon 5D? Are they moving onto a new line of cameras in the 6D?  Only time will tell and regardless of the name of the camera, you can rest assured that the new camera will be an amazing addition to the professional line of DSLRs produced by camera.  This will be a high-end professional camera, but we do not know the exact specs of the Canon 6D/Canon 5D MK III.  There is a rumor that we will get an announcement for the new Powershot cameras in mid to late September and then the long awaited announcement of the digital single lens reflex cameras sometime in October.  None of this is confirmed and is completely speculative, so do not wait on pins and needles.  The expected release date for the Canon 6D is early 2012, but as the world knows Japan is starting to get back on its feet and recover from the tragic earthquake suffered in March of 2011.  This earthquake centered in Tohoku, which was close to 100 miles away undoubtedly has slowed down production.  The biggest issue that Canon has had to deal with in terms of getting the Canon 6D ready to ship is with their suppliers.  They have had a hard time getting the right parts and materials delivered on time.  This will slow down the expected release date and even slow down any firm details on the camera and its release as Canon is notorious for not letting any details out until they are firm.  So until things get in line with Canon, we will not know anything for sure, but our hearts and prayers are with the people of Japan and the Canon family.  Here’s to a quick recovery and getting things back to normal for the people of Japan.
